Double Disc Grinding
Double disc grinding is ideal for parts requiring parallel and flat surface areas finished to critical tolerances. With two abrasive discs removing stock simultaneously, this process reduces handling, speeds production, and ensures consistency.
Key features include:
- Simultaneous grinding of two opposite and parallel sides
- Consistent results over the entire production run
- Profitable production rates ranging from small to large quantities
- Perfect for critical components requiring precise tolerances
For higher volume work, we have unmatched double disc feed thru grinders. From large to smaller orders where parallelism and flatness are critical.
- Parts from .050″ to 2″ thickness
- From 3/8″ up to 24″ in diameter
- Equipped with state of the art variable speed motor control to give increased job shop versatility
Single and Double
Sided Lapping
Save money and time with our innovative double sided lapping machines on almost any material from steel to plastic, and even glass for a better, more consistent finish.
Lapping is a controlled process using loose abrasives mixed with a vehicle to remove material from workpieces at a very controlled rate. Our one and two-sided machines ensure exceptional flatness, parallelism, and surface finish.
Key features include:
- Extremely tight tolerances achievable, including Light Band and parallelism
- Surface finishes as low as 4 Ra or 2 Ra if polished
- Suitable for a wide range of materials, including non-magnetic and brittle parts
- Advantages include minimal thermal distortions and gentle grinding action
Lapping machines ranging in size from 12” to 48” that can accommodate your scheduling needs.
Lapping machines lap two sides at the same time, minimizing part handling.
Ideal for jobs where parallelism is critical.
Flatness size | .000011’ (on eleven millionth of an inch)
Size | +/- .000020”-total of 40 millionth of an inch across the entire table
Finish | 8 microns
Fine Grinding
This unique grinding process uses fixed abrasives such as diamond or CBN to remove material at an extremely controlled rate without dirty residue. The parts are held in multiple carriers that only allow grinding to the top and bottom surfaces. Production in this process is faster with a finer surface finish.
Key features include:
- Comparable results to lapping in flatness, parallelism, and surface finishes
- Production rates 3 to 20 times faster than conventional lapping
- Ideal for small thin metal parts, stampings, machined parts, and more
- Suitable for a wide range of materials, including ceramics, plastics, and irregular shapes
Flatness | 1 Light Band (11.6 millionths of an inch)
Parallelism | .000020 inches
Size Control | +/- 1 micron in a single load
Finishes | As low as 2 Ra to 4 Ra
Blanchard Grinding
Blanchard grinding is a versatile process ideal for rough and finish machining any flat surface unobstructed by projections. With rotary work motions and high production rates, our Blanchard grinders deliver uniform size and surface finish.
Key features include:
- Rotary work motions for uniform results
- High production rates for efficient machining
- Versatility in handling single pieces or large quantities
- Suitable for large stock removal on broad surfaces
We have a bank of Blanchard grinders for your larger components:
- tables up to 60”
- tolerances as low as +/- .001”
- flatness and parallelism .001”
- finishes to 10 RMS
- roughing for subsequent finishing operations
Surface Grinding
Our surface grinding machines, equipped with magnetic tables, ensure precise and accurate machining of flat surfaces. Capable of holding tolerances within +/- .0005 or less, these machines are perfect for tool rooms and production runs.
Key features include:
- Magnetic tables for secure workholding
- Reciprocal or rotary table versions for versatile machining
- High precision and consistency for small or thin pieces
- Ideal for maintaining tight tolerances on critical components
Largest grinder is 16” wide x 30” high x 96” long.
Rotary surface grinder generates concave or convex surfaces.
Where toolroom tolerance or special angles are required, our reciprocating surface grinders are available.
Great for production runs, especially on small or thin pieces (1/4” diameter, .013” thick).
Added Services
Parts Finishing
Polishing to give your parts a mirror-like finish.
Our vibratory parts tumbler deburrs parts to give you a better looking, burr-free product and enhances the finish.
Parts Washing
Our belt type washing machine makes residue on parts a thing of the past.
This 3 – stage machine washes, rinses and dries parts, leaving them completely clean and ready for packaging.
Once parts are cleaned, we can supply all packaging materials or ship them out with packaging that you provide.
Quality Assurance
Our Helmel CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) can duplicate the method and readings customers get in their inspection procedures.
This is used as an aid in the certification of shipments assuming you of quality service.
Packaging
When the parts come out clean, we will package for shipment. We can use your packaging materials or provide it for you.
